Why a subscription?
Because, for NextApp, it makes sense. You don't pay for the app. It's free. You only pay if you use our infrastructure to back up and synchronize your data between your devices.
That infrastructure isn't free for us. We need to pay for reliable cloud servers, and we need competent people to develop, maintain, and support the service.
We don't sell your data or any information about you. The app and our website have no ads. In other words, you are the customer. The subscription is the only income you generate for the company.
Like all companies, we need income in order to operate. Unlike most "tech startups" that try to achieve rapid growth in preparation for a future sellout — casino capitalism — our vision is to make great products and have genuinely satisfied customers.
